Ceramics

Ceramics is a universally applicable material which is now also enjoying great popularity in the jewellery industry. Ceramics owes this to its unique properties, which ensure that jewellery made of this material not only looks good, but also has excellent skin compatibility and can survive for many years without optical loss of value. Ceramics itself is an inorganic material that can be made from different raw materials. Silicate, oxidic and non-oxidic raw materials form three main groups from which ceramics are made in their final form. The production of ceramics is one of the oldest cultural achievements of mankind, because already more than 30,000 years ago figures, artefacts and pieces of jewellery were made from ceramics. The word itself comes from Greek and is derived from "Keramos", which is a term for a number of clay minerals. Today ceramics is an interesting material also in the jewellery production, because with it pendants, rings and numerous other accessories can be created. The desire for a very special ring, which should consist of a non-ordinary material, is fulfilled with ceramics. The stone material is excellent for allergy sufferers, loses nothing of its charm over the years, is also variable in colour and has an attractive appearance. Even engravings and stone trimmings can be realised with ceramic jewellery and enable individual pieces to be made from special material.

Features of Ceramics

Ceramic jewellery is very hard and therefore extremely scratch-resistant. Ceramic jewellery is easy-care and 100% anti-allergic. Ceramic jewellery does not tarnish, does not oxidise and has a very long service life. Due to the material hardness ceramic rings can only be engraved by laser and it is unfortunately not possible to change the stone (if available).

Our ceramic jewellery is produced by a so-called sintering process and falls under the category "technical ceramics". This type of ceramic is characterized by special properties and cannot be compared to porcelain. The special properties include wear resistance, hardness, compressive strength and high temperature resistance. However, it can still happen that the material can break if the ring falls down, for example.

Ceramic rings

Since jewellery is an object of daily life, it is exposed to physical and climatic influences.

Contact with other objects may cause scratches. Traces of wear make jewellery unique and therefore a very personal piece of jewellery.

Correct care

The care of ceramic jewellery is very simple. In principle, it is important to ensure that an ecological cleaning agent without minerals (available online or in retail stores) is used for cleaning. The detergent is applied to a soft cloth and the jewellery carefully rubbed off. A soft toothbrush can be used for hard-to-reach areas. If you clean your ceramic jewellery regularly in this way, no further care is required.
