Kunzite

 Kunzit
Kunzite is a variant of the mineral spodumene, which owes its name to the discoverer George Frederick Kunz. First found in California in 1903, kunzite is now a popular stone in the jewellery industry. Characteristic for the kunzite is its colouring, which ranges from delicate pink to dark violet. The right cut gives the stone its special look. Scissors and staircase cuts are mainly used and ensure unique colour changes and a radiant shine. The latter ensures that the kunzite harmonises extremely well with diamonds. Since the stone is very sensitive to heat and temperatures of 300 to 400 degrees Celsius can lead to loss of colour, special care must be taken during processing. White kunzite is a speciality in the area of kunzites. This has a clear white colour instead of violet. The champagne kunzite as well as the patroke kunzite are variants of the coveted gemstone.
