Gold Chain

For thousands of years, the gold chain has been one of the most classic pieces of jewelry par excellence. It is timeless and flatters every skin type with its different alloys (yellow, white and rose gold). This makes the gold chain popular with men and women alike. The precious metal has several positive characteristics: gold does not tarnish, retains its shine over the long term and does not rust. But gold is not all gold. The fine gold content of a gold chain reveals how valuable it is. The higher the carat number or the gold content, the more valuable the jewelry. Since pure gold is too soft to be used in jewelry, the gold content is reduced and supplemented with a metal or precious metal, thus creating an alloy. The fine gold content of the individual alloys is composed as follows: 18ct gold consists of 75% fine gold, 14ct gold consists of 58.5% fine gold, 9ct gold consists of 37.5% fine gold and 8ct gold consists of 33.3% fine gold. Depending on the material composition of a gold alloy, the color also changes. An increased addition of copper, for example, produces a reddish gold or rosé tone, while a high silver or palladium content gives white gold a silver sheen. If gold is combined with silver and copper, a yellow-gold tone is obtained. Just as versatile as the colors of a gold chain are the types of chains. Depending on the link shape or arrangement, a distinction is made between different models and designs, such as an anchor, armor, omega or Y chain. Gold chains can also be adorned by a pendant or worn without any decorative element.
