In order to produce jewellery that is as exclusive and valuable as possible, the best and purest materials are also needed. Fine silver is one of the materials - along with fine gold - that form the basis for high-quality jewellery. Fine silver is the term for pure silver, i.e. a material that is not combined in an alloy with other metals. The stamp that is applied to this silver is in most cases 1000/1000, which indicates the silver content in parts per thousand. This fine silver is then usually further processed as a component of alloys, as it is very soft in its purest form and cannot easily be used as a basic material for jewellery. Therefore, silver is usually found as sterling silver, a silver alloy containing 92.5% fine silver. The rest of this alloy is made up of copper, which makes the metal hard and easier to work into jewellery or other objects and materials. This silver is then marked 925. Fine silver is therefore not used in jewellery in its pure form, but always in an alloy. Combined with gold or other materials, it makes an excellent material for jewellery of all kinds.
