Diamond

 Diamant
The diamond is the most famous gemstone of the present day, which is also given the highest value. Through its characteristic sparkle and glitter, this gemstone receives its popularity and also its value. A diamond consists of chemically pure carbon and is the hardest of all known materials. Diamonds are formed when carbon is pressed under extremely high pressure and enormous heat. These processes took place many millions of years ago in the earth's interior, which is why diamonds can be found today. The value of a diamond is expressed in carats. How valuable a diamond is depends on several factors. The four Cs indicate the most important qualities that are relevant to the value of a diamond. The cut should emphasize optimal proportions and give the diamond its fire. The best known diamond cut is the brilliant. Color is the second important characteristic of diamonds. The most valuable diamonds are completely colourless. Clarity is the third quality feature for diamonds; here a high-quality gemstone should allow the light to penetrate unhindered and have no inclusions. The size is the fourth characteristic. It is measured in carat or karat.
