Bijou

The term bijou comes from the French and is the translation for jewel, preciousness or piece of jewellery. This already says a lot about bijous, they basically summarize all pieces of jewellery that are not in the extremely expensive segment with the most exclusive jewellery collections. Especially very small accessories are called bijous; jewellery that is worn in everyday life, is interchangeable and conforms to the prevailing trends of current fashion. Especially charms, which are integrated into charm bracelets, are characteristic bijous, which of course does not exclude other pieces of jewellery. Rings, earrings, necklaces and watches are of course also valuable jewels that have a certain material value and an individual character and therefore embody meaning for the owner. Gemstones such as zirconia or glass beads are characteristic of bijous, as are silver and stainless steel as basic materials. Irrespective of the value of the materials and also of the individual workmanship and design, all jewellery worn for aesthetic reasons can in principle be summarised under bijou.
