Bezel

A bezel can be understood as different elements of a watch, depending on the type of watch. For example, the bezel of a floor, wall, tower or table clock is slightly different from that of a wristwatch. The term bezel is French (lunette) and the diminutive of la lune, the moon. The bezel refers to the circle that is set around the dial on the watch case. In wristwatches, this circle is responsible for keeping the glass cover of the watch in place. Furthermore, the bezel of wristwatches can be flexibly rotated, allowing certain times to be marked. This is especially necessary for diving watches, where the bezel plays an essential role. Other scales, such as pulsometers, asthmometers or tachymeters, can also be represented by the bezel. In larger watches, the bezel refers to a decorative ring around the dial which has no practical function and which is only responsible for the optical shape of the watch. In any case, the bezel can be made of high-grade precious metal and thus have a decisive influence on the overall value of a watch.
